- 1 block about 200g firm tofu
- 1 red bell pepper sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper sliced
- 1 cup snow peas trimmed
- 1 small onion sliced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1- inch piece ginger minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp cornstarch optional
- 2 tbsp water optional
- Cooked brown rice or noodles for serving
- Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Tofu: Drain the tofu and press it between paper towels to remove excess moisture. Cut into cubes.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and minced garlic and ginger. If using cornstarch, mix it with water to create a slurry and add it to the sauce mixture.
- Cook the Tofu: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook for 2 minutes. Add the bell peppers and snow peas, and stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Combine and Serve: Return the tofu to the skillet. Pour the sauce over the tofu and vegetables, stirring to coat everything evenly. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Serve the stir-fry over cooked brown rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
