Ingredients
  

  • 1 block about 200g firm tofu
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper sliced
  • 1 cup snow peas trimmed
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1- inch piece ginger minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch optional
  • 2 tbsp water optional
  • Cooked brown rice or noodles for serving
  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Tofu: Drain the tofu and press it between paper towels to remove excess moisture. Cut into cubes.
  • Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and minced garlic and ginger. If using cornstarch, mix it with water to create a slurry and add it to the sauce mixture.
  • Cook the Tofu: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook for 2 minutes. Add the bell peppers and snow peas, and stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  • Combine and Serve: Return the tofu to the skillet. Pour the sauce over the tofu and vegetables, stirring to coat everything evenly. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  • Serve the stir-fry over cooked brown rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
